Like many of us in 2020, Northern Hills Church scrambled to ramp up its online presence when all of a sudden no one could attend in person. They added some cameras and a RESI live streaming encoder, threw together a broadcast audio mix and went live as quickly as possible. Their team came together and made it happen like so many churches and businesses in 2020.
Fast forward to the fall, things are changing, restrictions are being lifted, and it looks like people can start attending in-person again. But wait, that broadcast audio mix position? In the FOH booth. Those cameras? HDMI cables run across the floor. With no one in the room, these things were no issue but that was about to change. Oh, and we can’t take it down because that online experience is essential.
Thankfully, Jacque and her team were ahead of the curve. They knew they needed to move the broadcast switching and audio mixing to an isolated space, and had a room that would work. However, none of the infrastructure was there to support it. That’s where Lucid comes in. Jacque reached out to us, we put together a plan, and a couple of weeks later made it happen with a 1-week turnaround.
We added custom panels with SDI video and Comms for the cameras, re-routed projector lines, extended the Dante network, and built out their new broadcast control room. All existing equipment was repurposed. We added a pair of larger multiview displays, some studio monitors, and an eye in the sky camera for a fully functioning control space.
